As Spring is arriving , I have been craving all of the fresh herbs, local veggies and the zesty zing of fresh grated ginger mid-day.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine , Spring is the time we detox so I find this craving very fitting.
I donβt digest raw vegetables very well so I like to sautΓ© everything and enjoy it lukewarm with some grass fed meat and avocado. I donβt consume or crave avocado year round but again in the Spring I typically get a desire for it π₯π₯
Arugula is my green of choice because it really helps with bile flow which is essential for detox β
Sulfur containing foods like broccoli, onion (and also garlic) also really support healthy liver function!
I do believe that there is a synergy between vegetables and animal products and neglecting either will cause health problems long term. However always stick to the foods that work for your digestive system at the moment π
Let me know if you make it and what herbs and greens you are using π
To make a serving you need:
As much broccoli as you would like π₯¦ I love to get it locally at the farmers market
Red or yellow onion π§ – About 1/4 large onion
Fresh grated ginger π« – measure with your heart β€οΈ
Handful of Arugula π₯¬
Sea salt π§ and fresh white pepper
Basil πΏ or other herbs you like
Teaspoon of your saturated fat of choice:
I like virgin coconut oil or raw butter π§π₯₯
To make:
Heat up your fat of choice, add chopped onion , sautΓ© until golden. Season with salt, white pepper and grate over fresh ginger. Add in chopped broccoli , add a splash of water and add the lid to the pan. This will help steam the broccoli and get it tender. This typically takes 5 minutes.
Remove the lid, add arugula , and chopped herbs. Let it wilt and then serve with your meal!
I love to add avocado to this side I feel like it just melts in my mouth ππ
Best enjoyed in the sunshine to gather as many electrons as possible βοΈβοΈ
