Iβm a 21 year old German (moved to the US at age 6) and recently created this blog to share helpful tips, recipes and fun facts that I wish I had known when I started my health journey in September 2018 when I came down with mononucleosis. Little did I know then that this would down spiral into a health crisis that almost cost me my life in August 2021.
With the knowledge I have now, I have been able to learn and recover, getting stronger each day. I hope this page motivates others to keep fighting and to understand that little lifestyle changes can make a huge difference for your health, even if you donβt have anything. Your health is so valuable and often taken for granted until it is lost.
My journey has taught me the beautiful art of cooking, and I place a big emphasis on returning to the roots and connecting with local farmers. Our bodies deserve to be fueled with what we are intended to eat: ancestral foods including healthy fats and well-raised animal products π
Unwrapping the Onion
After not being able to really recover from my Mononucleosis infection and developing severe gut problems we searched and searched for answers. It was an odyssey and it seemed like no one knew the answer. In fall of 2020, I was so sick and severely anemic that we dried one last doctor, a local functional medicine doctor which was a game-changer!
She explained to me that my mono infection was like the last bit of rain that made my rain barrel run over, causing me to get really sick.
Due to SNPS (single nucleotide polymorphisms) in my DNA, my body is not able to detox without any additional support, so throughout my life, lots of toxins accumulated: heavy metals and other environmental toxins, pollutants, pesticides, plastics etc which really weakened my system.
Additionally, I suffer from mold illness/CIRS and was already far along the trajectory.
When I became infected with mono, it was just all too much for my body and it couldnβt keep up and started to show how upset it was.
To make it all even worse, the molds, heavy metals, viruses and malnutrition I was experiencing due to my gut issues, caused my bone marrow to shut down, and I became very anemic, to the point where I needed a blood transfusion last fall. Since I already have a few genetic blood disorders maintaining and regenerating healthy blood is very important to me!
The blood transfusion and additional treatments were a game changer and now Iβm happy to say that Iβm on an upward path, and am pretty confident that I will be completely recovered one day, it just takes time.
In the past, I ate a ketogenic diet rich in veggies and high quality fat and meat. However, I didnβt recover as quickly as I wanted, so now I am on a high fat carnivore diet to see if that can accelerate the process! I hope to reintroduce some plant foods soonπ€©

With the knowledge I have now, I can live a lifestyle that supports my body so that it can function optimally allowing me to live a life I love π₯°

Behind Cureeated
In addition to the environment that we surround ourselves in, we have the power to influence our health through what we put in our mouths. It can either feed disease and inflammation or help fight and cure it. Eating the right healing foods was definitely one vehicle that has helped me to heal, hence the name CUREeated, healed by food!
The name of my site is also a play on the word curated, since Iβm helping guide you and curating recipes that everyone can follow to starve disease and nourish your bodies!
Cooking nourishing food with my family is a great way to bond and to make sure that we are giving our body what it needs. Since Iβm German, some recipes are a take on our family favorites, I hope you enjoy them too!
Lastly, I want to point out that Iβm not a medical professional or dietician, so nothing I post here should be taken as medical advice. Iβm only sharing what my family and I are doing, and I hope it will help you too! I also post about products that I really like, some I have an affiliate connection to (but that will be obvious as there will be a link or a promo code I offer to you). I only post about products that we really use in our daily lives and that I stand behind 100%. Some companies, like US Wellness Meats and Apsey Farms have some of my recipes featured on their website π₯Ή
