Summer means grilling season which is a great way for my to get creative and make some new fun recipes π
Today we are spicing up the burger and are swapping the traditional lettuce wrap for a portabella bun π
The mushroom caps are a lot firmer than lettuce and bring a yummy umami flavor that complements the bison, guacamole, MCT Mayo and greens π
Of course, you can always opt for a different bun swap, like an UnBun grain free burger bun π₯―
Weβve made many other types of burgers before including:
Keto Burgers π
Chicken Tandoori Burgers π
Salmon Burgers π
Mediterranean Style Burgers π
I like to get my ground bison from Northstar Bison, the meat is very yummy and does not taste very gamey. You can save 10$ using my referral link or you can check out other sources of bison or beef here!
To make 1 burger you need:
1 bison patty- I like 1/3 pounders but any size works π¦¬
2 portabella mushroom caps π
Salt and other seasoning π§
Guacamole, lettuce, tomato and cucumber for garnish π₯π π₯¬
MCT Mayo or your other favorite condiments π₯«
To make:
Preheat the grill, and season your meat and the mushroom caps. The good thing about this recipe is that the meat and the mushrooms need about the same amount of time on the grill.
I like to season the meat and mushrooms with flaked sea salt, and also a sprinkle of dried oregano on the mushroom, that brings out their flavor π
When the grill is hot, grill the mushrooms and the meat for about 4 minutes on each side.

Place the meat onto the mushroom cap, slather in avocado or guacamole, and garnish with the greens and Mayo. Then top it all off with the second mushroom cap π

I love to eat these with carrot fries and grilled veggies π
